Exhibitions play a key role in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes, serving as culminating assessments where students showcase their learning, inquiry, and creativity.

The MYP 5 Personal Project Exhibition and the PYP 5 Exhibition are a hallmark of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years and Primary Years Programme (MYP), (PYP), typically culminating the Grade 5 and Grade 10 experience. These events allow students to showcase independent, passion-driven projects that demonstrate research, critical thinking, creativity, and real-world application skills. Students select topics of personal interest, ranging from sustainable innovations, art and design, community service initiatives, technology prototypes, to cultural explorations, and develop a tangible product or outcome over several months. The exhibition itself is a celebratory community event where students present their work through displays, demonstrations, and discussions to parents, teachers, peers, and sometimes younger students. These showcases highlight student growth, resilience in overcoming challenges, and alignment with IB goals like global-mindedness and lifelong learning, while emphasizing student agency and meaningful impact. It’s held annually, transforming the AIS campus into a vibrant gallery of innovation and reflection, often inspiring the next cohort of PYP 5 and MYP 5 students.

  • In the Diploma Programme (DP), exhibitions appear in specific subjects:
    • Visual Arts students curate and present a selection of their resolved artworks (4–7 for SL, 8–11 for HL), accompanied by a curatorial rationale. This component accounts for 40% of the final grade and demonstrates technical skill, conceptual depth, and artistic growth.
    • Theory of Knowledge (TOK) includes an exhibition where students select three objects linked to a prompt, exploring knowledge questions through commentary (worth 33% of TOK). These exhibitions emphasize reflection, communication, and real-world application, aligning with the IB’s focus on developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring learners.
